Super nice morning out front with cleaned up water, almost no wind, and a moving flood tide. Got out before first light and set up to cast the spey rod off the front of the groins. Finally got things started with two schoolie bass to 36 inches......combined. Saw a bunker or herring flip which really got my juices flowing. Looking forward to many more first light opportunities for stripers on the fly.
Nice to see a few other anglers, both spin and fly, out working off the rocks. Saw lots of boat traffic heading north which will mean a total beat down of the stripers in the bay today. I won't look at the reports.....but it will read something like this.....'Limited out in less than a half an hour plus bonus tags with fish to 25 pounds....THEN played catch and release after that....great day."
Catch and release is great....but it has to happen before you take your limit plus your bonus tags and those fish credited to the captain and mates.....
