03.15.11 Off to the Orvis Guide Rendezvous and then to shovel roofs again in the Adirondacks

Today I am off to Millbrook, New York for the Orvis Eastern Guide Rendezvous. Orvis holds these annual events in different parts of the country throughout the year bringing together Orvis Endorsed Guides (which I am not yet) and representatives from the company. That's tomorrow but tonight's it's dinner and drinks at a restaurant near there. Then tomorrow night it's off to Ausable Forks where I am sure the lodge will look similar to what it did last month when I went up. I will have a ton of shoveling to do again.

I was checking out some of the latest fishing news from South Jersey. One of the earlier hot spots down south is Graveling Point on the Great Bay in Mystic Island. It is fed by the Mullica River. The Point area is famous for its' shallow flats that heat up nicely in mid-March and give anglers the first early season shot at stripers. Scott's Bait and Tackle in Mystic Island has posted on their Facebook page that water temps were 42-44 degrees and that the last day of rain and wind have dropped them a bit more. It will be there if we get a nice three day run of warms temps. That should get things going.
