Today I had to shoot a dish from a local chef for a food magazine. The above shot is one of the test shots, since I can't publish one of the selects before the magazine does. The fish used was rainbow trout and the accompanying ingredients are a secret until the April 2011 publish date. Shooting food is fun, success not easy while failure is. This shoot wasn't too bad because there wan't any sauces involved. Hot, runny sauces that can set quickly off the heat are a one and done shoot. In addition to the food and its challenges, there is always the lighting difficulties, and backgrounds that can pose a problem. I will blog when the magazine comes out and put up a few pics from the shoot. I have shot some really nice pictures of food, and some ones that were sh*t, and both have been published. Below is a cover food shot I did for NJ Monthly magazine, it was shot at Mastoris Diner in Bordentown.
