It's fall and the full Harvest Moon sometimes is the impedus to get things moving as far as striped bass fly fishing is concerned. Bait starts to move out, or be more active, more water, harder tides, and maybe some northeast winds gets things moving. It's a moon you want to fish a few days before or a fewd days after. But, you have to go when you can go, and tonight was my time on the moon.
Started two hours into the outgoing and there was a lot, I mean a lot, of water out back. Had some bait, had some fishing chasing, but no where like it was a week or so ago. The tell tale spots where fish were active were quiet. I made the usual 100 casts, took a walk, then decided to wade out as far as I could go knowing the tide was on the ebb.
From there conditions were perfect, moving water, right to left, all you had to do was make a cast, let it ride, give it a twitch, and hold on. Two fish to hand, one broke off, and twop other hits made for a great night. I would have stayed longer, but some a'hole with a lightbar on his boat came and lit the whole place up. Not just a light, but a blinding light where you couldn't even make the boat out.
