It's been a while since I have taken the run out to hop pots looking for mahi. On the bluebird sky day it is something to see. If you find the right floatsam or pot markers the fish can be stacked up on top of each from top to bottom. One thing is you'll most likely have to try and avoid the "chickens" and the banded rudderdish which sit on top of the big fish.
If you find the right spot there can be fish, a lot, of fish. But do we need to keep each fish that we catch? I'm seeing this now with the mahi, and all summer with the yellow fin tuna. How much is too much? Do anglers think just because the ocean is big that continuous catches and killings are sustainable?
Keep what you can eat today, maybe one for the freezer, and one for your mother. All this killing is just not good.
