If I can't fish at least I know how to call the bait in. Well the herring have arrived in stupid numbers. They've been here and there but with just about each spot I stopped at today I had them at my feet. I was hoping there were some predator fish, hey at this point I'll take a smallmouth, patrolling the deeper water just outside where they were doing their mating dances.
I don't like this drought we're in and we are in a drought. The river is stupid low and the grass is almost bare in some spots. Luckily we hd some rain which gave it a bump but before the we were holding around 7,000 cfs. Now it's 10,000. I hope the spawn will be a good one this yer but I have my doubts. The winter this year was wintery enough that I thought things would be good. We'll see.
